I need to start making notes when I get a blog topic idea, because I know that I had some good ideas earlier this week and now they are gone, gone like the wind. Now I draw a blank as to what to write about. Besides me not feeling well yet again, there isn't much else going on. Area rugs come in dirty and go home clean!
I have touched on this in previous blogs, but I feel it is worth talking about again.
The scenario is that you go to your favorite home decor store and buy a rug that was on sale. A few weeks or months later something gets spilled on it or your four legged friend decides the rug is a good pit stop and it is time to get it cleaned. You start calling around to see how much to clean your area rug. You are a bit shocked that it will cost almost as much as you paid for the area rug to get it cleaned. It happens a lot especially with stores having such great sales lately.
In these uncertain economical times it is hard to justify spending $200.00 to $300.00 on area rug cleaning, especially if that is what you paid for your area rug. However it isn't like you are getting your rug cleaned all the time. About once a year is sufficient, unless you have children and/or pets, then twice a year is recommended. Having a dirty area rug in your home does more harm than good. Think about it this way you walk on the rug everyday, and everyday it is collecting dust, allergens, pet dander, food crumbs. All the stuff that floats around in the air gets into your rug and an area rug can hold a lot of dirt, sometimes 2/3 of it weight, before it looks dirty, minus the spills. All of that hidden dirt is slowly wearing away the fibers of your
rug and can make it look worn and old after just a few years.
It may seem like a lot of money to pay at once, but if you through the rug away and buy a new one that isn't good for the environment. Most area rugs don't break down and go away. Plus are you going to keep doing that every time your rug gets dirty?
The other concern lately is what chemicals do we use to clean with. At Luv-A-Rug we use soap and warm water. The products that most of us use in our homes are more harmful that what we use. The whole 'green clean' is more a of gimmick it seems than actual action. All you have to do is watch the commercials on TV and everything is more powerful! and disposable.
We never know what is in the cleaners and sprays we use at home because they don't have to put an ingredients list on the bottle. Luv-A-Rug uses very safe and clean products to make your area rugs very clean and healthy.
That is my rant today. Thanks for reading, RugloverMary.
